Baños - Gateway to the Amazonia

Day 1: Quito - Cotopaxi  -  Baños
Depart south from Quito to Cotopaxi National Park. Cotopaxi (5,897 m) is the highest active volcano in the world. Despite the altitude, the Park is home to numerous birds and varied plant life, which can be seeing on a light hike. Northeast lies Rumiñahui(4,557 m) and between the two mountains the plain and lagoon of Limpiopungo.
Continue along a series of temperate valleys with some villages and towns like Latacunga, Salcedo or Ambato before arriving in Baños, a small and friendly town/thermal bath resort nestled amidst mountains and found the midway between the Andes and the Amazon.

Day 2: Baños – Devil’s Cauldron Waterfall- Quito
We head down into the Pastaza river canyon to the so-called "Avenue of Waterfalls" where we find Cascada de la Virgen, the Bride’s Mantle, Machay, Pailóndel Diablo, all of which lie along the riverbed of the Pastaza and surrounded by green lush vegetation. 
The tallest waterfall, Pailón del Diablo (the Devil’s Cauldron) can be observed from a breathtaking suspension bridge, optional hike.
